When my son started playing in little league they did not have any training sessions for his team. I signed him up for goalkeeper training elsewhere but felt he would benefit from practising in the correct size goal when time allowed. For under 7 to under 10 that is 12′ x 6′. I have a small garden and I don’t think my wife would look kindly on a permanent goal in the garden, so I opted for a pop-up goal that I could take anywhere.

I purchased a portable football goal from Amazon, the goal I purchased had Ancheer branding and whilst this is no longer available the same item can be purchased with alternative branding such as Costway. The design and build are identical despite the branding differences.

Build Quality
Metal telescopic base provides a solid foundation for this goal. The back bar is curved so that the goal can be used on uneven ground. The 12.7mm fibreglass poles that hold the net in place are strong and flexible. The net itself is four ply and has coped with powerful shots from adults with ease. Overall the quality seems very good and the product should last for quite some time if not mistreated.

What’s in the bag

Assembly
As with anything that requires assembly the first couple of times you put this together it will take a bit longer. It took 10 minutes the first time I used this goal but that drops to about 5 minutes once you have the hang of it. Disassembly is just as easy and takes a similar time frame.

Portability
The goal comes in a carry bag which easily fits all of the components inside. The bag itself is well made and does not feel like it will tear or break despite the weight of the goal. The goal weights about 12.5kg when packed away.

Supplier
I purchased the goal from Amazon but a quick google and you will find a plethora of potential suppliers.

Summary
A solid portable goal that offers more rigidity that other pop-up goals. Certainly worth the investment for young goalkeepers that are 10 and under.
